What to Bring to Training

Training workshops may require being outdoors for extended periods of time. Late spring temperatures range from cool evenings to warm days, so come prepared with clothes to be comfortable in all weather. Rain is always a possibility and bugs must never be ruled out. If you plan to attend a Pre-Training workshop and have specific questions about the gear needed, please contact the SCA Safety & Training team ([email protected]).

 Training Mandatory Items

  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Rain jacket/pants
  • Fleece/warm layers
  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Head lamp / flashlight
  • Notebook and pen/pencil
  • 2 water bottles
  • Personal lunch container
  • Personal Care (towel, toiletries, sunblock, etc.)

Optional Items

  • Bug repellant
  • Camp chair
  • Camera
  • Books
  • Musical instruments
  • Closed toe shoes (or swimming)
  • Sandals
  • Coffee mug

 Pre-Training & Work Skills Mandatory Items

  • Day pack
  • Work boots (leather boots above ankle)
  • Leather work gloves
  • Work rain jacket/pants (prepare for mud!)
  • Work clothes (carhart style pants, jeans, t-shirts, etc.)

 Optional Items

  • Long sleeved work shirt (mandatory for anyone taking chainsaw workshop)
  • Safety glasses
  • Ear plugs
